The Jonas Brothers are reflecting on being approached with inappropriate questions early in their careers.
The trio — Kevin, 37, Joe, 35, and Nick, 32 — were guests on Penn Badgley’s Podcrushed podcast this week, where they opened up about being under a microscope at a young age.
As the music artists rose to success in the early 2000s, they came to be known for their Christian backgrounds and regularly wearing purity rings.
Joe revealed that reporters posited questions about if they were waiting until marriage to have sex. He claimed that some would even threaten to write that the siblings were ‘in a cult’ if they didn’t oblige.
Nick — who is married to Priyanka Chopra — pointed out about the industry culture, ‘It wasn’t just us. It was a whole class of young people coming up.’
Nick added that there’s been a shift in what’s now acceptable to ask entertainers during interviews.

‘I think it’s really a good thing,’ he said, adding, ‘Where 1753407910 it would be so outside of the realm of possibilities or something someone would do — to ask… a 14-year-old about their sex life.’
Circling back to their purity rings, Joe explained that it had been ‘something in the community of [their] church where that was what everybody else was doing around 10, 11 years old.’
At the time, he said he and his brothers all decided that they wanted to ‘wait for the right person.’
And he stated that during their teenage years they did not want to discuss the topic, but felt pressured to provide what would be deemed satisfactory answers.
In addition to sex, they young men were quizzed about religion and Christianity.
Joe even said that there were even questions such as ‘What is God?’ and ‘Is there a God?’
He said about the stress, ‘And it’s on the record… And so you felt the pressure. I can definitely speak for all three of us here. I felt the pressure of being like, well, we have to live these lives because we kind of said it in a paper once. It’s in print, so you gotta do it forever.’

Eventually, the siblings grew to draw a boundary.
Joe explained, ‘Obviously, it [was] scary and [freaked] us out until we got to a point where [it was] like, f*** this.
‘And probably the time we’re like, “frick this.” Because we were like, “We can figure out who we are on our own terms.”‘
Each of the brothers would go on to marry and welcome children.
Kevin was the first, tying the knot with Danielle Jonas in 2009 and welcoming daughters Alena, 11, and Valentina, eight.
Joe shares daughters Willa, five, and Delphine, three, with ex-wife Sophie Turner.
Nick is dad to three-year-old daughter Malti, whom he shares with wife Priyanka, 43.
