Meryl Streep was seen for the first time on the set of her upcoming sequel to her fan favorite 2006 blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada.
She captivated audiences in the first movie as the fearsome fashion editor Miranda Priestly, who was inspired by the now outgoing Vogue chief Anna Wintour.
The original novel was a roman à clef by the real Anna Wintour’s former assistant Lauren Weisberger, whose fictional stand-in Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs was portrayed in the silver screen adaptation by Anne Hathaway.
News broke last July that a sequel was in the works, and it has since been confirmed that Anne and Meryl are both returning to their old roles.
Now Meryl, 76, has been spotted shooting the upcoming picture in New York City, unmistakably as the tyrannical boss of Runway magazine.
Fans leapt to social media to share their astonished reactions at how little she has aged since the original movie came out more than 20 years ago.

One gushed that ‘she hasn’t aged a day,’ as another wrote: ‘between 2005 and now she has aged a week,’ and a third exclaimed: ‘She looks just as fabulous!!!’
Sharing side-by-side images of Meryl in the original movie and on the set of the new film this week, a flabbergasted X user marveled: ‘this is crazy.’
The actress’ admirers erupted with praise, spilling: ‘Iconic,’ ‘OH MY GOD,’ ‘miranda YOU ARE BACK,’ ‘She looks amazing,’ and: ‘Dios!!!!!! Queen is back.’
When Meryl surfaced on the set of the new film this week, her 2006 Miranda Priestly look was in full evidence, including her swirl of snow white hair.
She also had on the sunglasses Miranda constantly wears – an affectation borrowed from Anna Wintour, who has admitted she wears shades as a form of ‘armor.’
Her costume was perfectly fitted to highlight her sleek frame, from her nut-brown leather pencil skirt to her plunging lavender blouse.
The ensemble was brought together with a slimming camel-toned coat and a set of burnt-orange heels that augmented Merly’s 5’6″ stature.
