Jackie ‘O’ Henderson reveals shock plan to QUIT popular radio show – after signing 10-year deal

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has shocked listeners – and her longtime co-host Kyle Sandilands – by revealing her potential plans to walk away from radio and move overseas once her 10-year ARN contract wraps up.

The 50-year-old presenter made the shock admission live on The Kyle and Jackie O Show this week, revealing she intends to spend half the year living in Italy after her $10m a year contract ends.

Kyle and Jackie signed a record-breaking $200 million deal with ARN in late 2023, locking them in for another 10 years

But despite nine years still remaining, the popular radio host already has her sights set on the next chapter.

‘That’s my plan – at the end of the 10 years to go to Italy and live there for six months every year,’ Jackie told listeners.

The comment appeared to catch Kyle off guard, who had just finished telling Jackie about his own dream of retiring in a ‘French chateau’.

‘So what you’re saying is, after this 10-year deal’s up, that’s it for you?’ he asked in disbelief.

‘Yep,’ Jackie replied simply, prompting stunned silence in the studio.

Newsreader Brooklyn Ross attempted to quiz Jackie on how long she’d been planning the move, but Kyle quickly shut it down.

‘Forget a dream… The shock here is I’ve got nine years left with her – that’s it,’ Kyle joked.

Jackie laughed off her co-host’s reaction, telling him: ‘Nine years is a long time,’ to which Kyle cheekily responded, ‘I plan to die on air.’

Kyle and Jackie O signed a record-breaking $200 million deal with Australian Radio Network (ARN) in November 2023 that would see them remain on airwaves until 2034 – earning a whopping salary of $10m each per year.

In January, the duo opened up about what their extensive contracts stated would happen to the show if one of them were to die.

‘I’ve got a whole page in there about what happens if you die,’ Jackie told Kyle.

‘Oh yes, I’ve got that as well. Actually, I’ve had that for quite a few years. And I think you only just put that in yours this year,’ her co-host confessed.

‘Wait. Why was I in yours? Was I more likely to die?’ Jackie exclaimed.

Kyle reassured her the death clause is something the lawyers came up with years ago, but that the new deal was a chance for Jackie to add her own individual stipulations.

‘They [lawyers] rang me when they were doing this new deal and said “Jackie wants this [death] clause”,’ he said.

‘I said, “well, she should get that.” I’ve had that for years.’

As part of Jackie’s contract, the host specified she wanted the option to leave the show if Kyle passed away.

The KIIS FM co-hosts both started their radio careers early, but didn’t really ‘make it’ until they were randomly paired up together to host Austereo’s national Hot30 Countdown in the year 2000.

Since then, the on-air powerhouse have gone from strength to strength and received a host of industry awards and consistently top ratings across Sydney.
