Kate Beckinsale leaves fans baffled as she poses with her dyed PINK cat while putting on a very racy display in bikini snaps

Kate Beckinsale left her fans baffled on Tuesday when she posed with her dyed pink cat in a series of racy photos.

The English actress, 51, wore a skimpy black bandeau bikini top as she shared an update from her trip away with her pet cat and dog to Instagram.

She teamed the swimwear with ripped grey denim mini-shorts and leather studded knee-high boots.

In another snap, Kate was seen sporting an orange ribbed bandeau bikini top with her dog sat on her lap.

But the most striking part of her post was that her pet cat appeared to have been dyed a candyfloss pink colour.

She captioned the snaps: ‘Girls trip with my girls. This is not an accurate depiction of how life is right now but a brief and precious reprieve from other things for which I am extremely grateful x.’

Baffled fans of the star were quick to take to the comments to ask if she had dyed the cat or if it was an effect.

They wrote: ‘Who dyes their cat pink?? Not ok,’; ‘Ym whys the cat pink?’; ‘Why is that animal pink,’;

‘Pink cat summer! You all are just gonna pretend you don’t see it?’; ‘That cat is pink??,’;

‘Poor cat!’; ‘What’s with the pink cat?’; ‘Why is Willow pink??!’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Kate for comment.

A spokesperson from leading cat charity Cats Protection said: ‘Cats are not fashion accessories and we would certainly not endorse dyeing their fur.

‘It is likely that the cat would find the dyeing process itself stressful, the dye could irritate the skin and there may also be a risk of ingesting the dye.

‘We would encourage more mutually enjoyable ways of engaging with cats such as grooming or playing with toys.’

It comes after Kate paid tribute to her dearly departed cat Clive on the second anniversary of his death.

She called the feline ‘the love of my life’ as she shared several snaps and video clips of the pair together.

The film star told how she misses her cat every day and said she used to think people who mourn their pets were ‘ridiculous’ before having one herself.

She wrote: ‘Two years ago today I lost the actual love of my life and I’ve had a lot of time to think about why the pain is so fresh and I think it’s because as much as humans might love you it’s not really possible for it to be unconditional, unless that human is a baby – but the magical and unconditional love you get from your soulmate, animal is like nothing else.

‘I feel so lucky to have known and adored Clive and been so adored back.

‘It feels like those little furry grey paws were holding back hell until he just wasn’t strong enough anymore and then came just loss after terror after loss and I’m so grateful for all the years I felt truly protected by him in a way I never have by any human.

‘I used to think because I lost my dad so young people who went on about losing pets were being ridiculous and it’s humbling to always remember that until you’ve had an experience, you really don’t know what the f**k you’re talking about.’

Kate also shared a photo of an art piece her friend did of Clive which he coincidentally showed her on the anniversary of Clive’s passing.

She wrote: ‘My heart is utterly broken and always will be. I miss him so much every day and a few months after he died I said to my mum no one is ever going to look at me in that totally adoring, unjudgemental, benignly amused, utterly interested way again.

‘And she said – your dad used to look at you like that. Anyway, thank you all for loving him and knowing how special he was to me and I’m so glad I got to share his magic with you.

‘God bless, Clive my absolute number one. I miss you so much and, last slide, my dear friend, sent me a photo of this beautiful piece he has done of Clive for me and it happened to be that he texted it to me today two years after he died without knowing today was the day so I’ll take the magic, with so much gratitude.x’
