Bethenny Frankel has admitted to breaking a cardinal rule of wedding day fashion.
The RHONY alum just realized she wore white to her best friend’s wedding 30 years ago.
A mortified Frankel, 54, said her memory was jogged thanks to the controversy surrounding Kylie Jenner, who attended Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos‘ wedding in a silver and blue dress that looked white in certain lighting.
Bethenny admitted she was unaware of the rule at the time she purchased the dress, as she was scrambling to find an outfit after losing her luggage.
She even shared a photo of the mishap – which saw her posing beside the bride in a dress that appeared even lighter than the one her friend was wearing.
Fortunately, her friend, Sarah Beriro Lacharlotte, was clearly not upset by Bethenny’s unfortunate fashion faux pas, and even stood up for her in the comments section.

‘As the bride, I must add that Bethenny’s luggage never arrived, so she had to hunt for a black tie outfit the day of the wedding (in Marbella, no less, which had very few fashion stores at the time). Needless to say in true B “fashion” she managed to find the most iconic dress and made quite an indelible impression on many men that evening… I was just happy she didn’t show up naked!!! :-))’
An ’embarrassed’ Bethenny recounted the moment in-detail in video posted to her Instagram on Monday.
‘I have a confession. I was today years old when I realized, for the first time, that I wore white to my best friend’s wedding!’ she began in a whisper. ‘When I was 25 years old!
‘I never knew that rule. Yes, in the past decade or so, I’ve heard it. But I never knew the rule, and today, because I was thinking of the Kylie Jenner wearing white to the wedding, which wasn’t really white, I was thinking – “Oh my God.”‘
Bethenny’s unfortunate clothing choice came after she lost her luggage, prompting her to hunt down a dress at a ‘tiny Gucci store.’
‘And then I remembered, I was at her wedding in Marbella, with my ex, and we lost our luggage, and Marbella was not the metropolis it is today, and we were scrambling to find an outfit for the next day, and nothing was open and they had this tiny Gucci store, I owned exactly zero Gucci clothes, but we went in there, and it was like 80, 90% off, I remember that like it was yesterday, and I bought this long, white gown that has a cut out, and it has like underwear, they have like a gold medallion under, it was Tom Ford for Gucci…. and I still have it, and I have nothing. I keep nothing! For some reason, that dress was so spectacular that I kept it.’
It didn’t dawn until Monday that Bethenny had committed a major fashion faux pas that 500 other wedding guests also witnessed.
‘But today I was sitting there, and I was like,’ she said before a shocked expression fell upon her face. ‘Oh my God. And there were 500 people there.’
But Bethenny was determined to make a wrong into a right, and reached out to her pal over text message, apologizing for the dress.

‘So I texted her today, she’s on safari in Africa, I go, “I’m sorry. I just realized for the first time ever that I wore a white to your wedding!” She goes, “I didn’t care what you were wearing, I was just happy you were there.”
‘I mean… I’m so embarrassed, all these years, like all those people. I still don’t think it matters, but I mean, like my dress was more white than hers… Hers was like egg shell , off white, mine was Casper The Friendly ghost white. I have the picture, she sent it to me today,’ she said.
‘I’m not ready to show it to you. I’m not ready! Mind your business!’ she insisted.
Bethenny did upload the photo, writing inside of it: ‘She doesn’t know it yet but in 30 yrs she will realize for the first time that wearing white to a wedding is an unspeakable fashion crime…’
